Is this real? Why yes, Balanced Rock is one of the natural wonders located in the beautiful city of Colorado Springs.
 
This 35-foot red rock formation stands boldly along the landscape of Garden of the Gods, a striking sandstone boulder shaped by time and nature and admired by visitors from around the world each year.
 
In this painting, I layered mixed media papers to capture the rich red stone colors and natural textures of the rock. As your eye moves across the landscape, you’ll notice the distant tree line and birds in flight, reminding us that this scene is part of a much larger story  and that we are just a small piece within the world’s wonders.
